Looking good!!!
I use drop from some .063 soft Aluminum sheet to make soft jaws. I just bend them over like you did but don't join the seams. I usually am able to get them to pinch tight enough to hold in place. I beat them up pretty fast, so I make them as disposables.
I would rather have some thicker sheet, but this is what I have.
Thanks,
Got it soldered up tonight, ready for action.

Royce,
I just wanted to confirm, did you solder up the sides where everything overlapped to keep them in the correct shape? I have some leftover .125" copper sheet. I am thinking about a similar project. Nice work!

Great little project!
Your scrap looks pretty thick. What is the thickness anyway?
I have some pieces of copper roof flashing and some scrap 1.5 inch copper DWV tubing.
The stuff airrj has sounds plenty thick! 1/8 inch!
One on my next projects for sure. Minus the soldering, i like being able to remove them and really bite into the work piece
