Fix question

I posted a longer version of the question in vintage tools but thought it might be appropriate here...

I have a an older vise that needs jaw replacements no longer available and of odd size 5"H X 3/4"H X 1/4" W with holes 3 1/4" on center 1/4-20 thread

I have a great set of jaws that holes are 2 3/8" centered most common spacing.

Question---Better to drill and tap the vise itself with new 2 3/8" spaced holes or drill new holes in the jaws 3 1/4 to fit vise?

What brand of vice is it?
