This model is the smaller 3/8" drive that reads up to about 250 inch pounds. Bought it at a yard sale and now I understand why it was only $8..... the problem is that the outside jam nut that holds the handle flush up against the internal jam nut is loose and the handle won't adjust the readings on the torque wrench. The first issue is figuring out what "setting" the wrench was last set at when the handle came loose and the second issue is finding a 11/16" deep wall socket thin enough to get down the bore of the plastic handle to tighten it AND get a 1/4" allen head in there too to immobilize the shaft while tightening the nut. Once things get kosher, should I put a drop of blue loctite on the threads to prevent this from happening again??
The simple answer is to send it in to the service dept., but then the cost skyrockets. Not sure if the Gear Wrench bolt through rat and deep wall would fit in there. I have a 250 in./lb. SK torque wrench that I could use for calibration reference, but then you will ask me why did I buy the Craftsman when I already had the SK.......lol
Any wisdom or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
