No need to worry about trying to decied what I want to make out of this ratchet. Dad threw it away. He said it wasn't worth fixing! I could have at least made a scrap pile out of it!

Has garbage day come yet? Sounds like a first lesson in dumpster diving! :lol_hitti

Rebuildable or not, it's still fun to take things apart to see how they work.

When I was a kid, most of my toys were victims of my curiosity - I guess that's why I'm a mechanical (maniacal???) engineer.

The handle could have been used for somethin... Any one who can weld would have at least been able to make a nice breaker bar with it.

I have no clue where he got this. He does shop alot at menards, so maybe it could have came from there. But this looks just like it!

Thanks for the A+ for ambition. I just kind of thought it would be something fun if it was worth fixing.

I would put a drive end on it and use it as a breaker bar when you need to use a cheater bar. Put the ratchet head in your "junk" drawer, you never know when you might need it.

Our Menards has a computer at the return desk from which you can print a new receipt. You might even be able to pull up his receipt.

I'd warranty it.

If that failed, put it at hand in your daily driver. Never know when a konk on the head will come in handy.

Dave.
