fixing squeeking floor

this isnt my garage but my house
you guys are tonnes of help so here it goes
in my house i have i believe 3/4 subfloor that is about 6 inch wide on diagonal
then i have the original hardwoods which i absolutely hate
so what should i do to get out all the squeeks so i can carpet it all?

Its either caused from there being no paper under the hardwood floor when it was installed or the sub floor not being glued and screwed down properly, either way to do it properly you need to remove the old hardwood floor and then properly secure the sub floor with deck screws making sure the squeaks are gone before installing the carpet.

Remove all hardwood floor. Take screws and put two into each of those diagonal planks. That will take a lot of screws, and a lot of time. Then glue and screw 3/4 ply on top. Don't hate, I've done this myself twice now. When I renovated my house. I did two layers of staggered ply, and 3/4 t&g Brazilian cherry hardwood on top of that. There is something to be said about having a solid floor.

Or, remove all old flooring. glue and screw down 3/4 ply on top.

what i am thinking is taking 3-3 1/2 inch flooring screws and putting them in each board at the joists and then 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 in the field to take the rest of the squeeks out
and the flooring screws have two different thread pitches
