I found this box on Craig's list for 50 full of tools but had to drive 2 hours in a bad rain storm to get it. The pics weren't great and when I got there it was pouring down rain and in a dark garage once I got it I noticed it was spray painted awfully at that so I spent a lot of time cleaning off old cheapo rattle can which they painted over dirt grease and tape and here is end result. I see why it got painted but patina isn't that bad. I used degreaser, 3 kinds of scratch remover and 2 kinds of wax you can see your face off it. I used degreaser ,sandpaper a wire brush and razor blades to get spray paint off.

Plus it was full of all good tools he even through in more since I drove so far... Alot of the tools came with. Now u need a bottum box the search is ongoing.. I'm thinking about restoring it but I don't know my wife wants it and for me to paint pink and modernize it with trim ball bearing slides, gas strut lifts, lock ,new badge, and chrome strip .what you all think help me choose.. I know it's a common box..

Solid deal @ $50, even with the added drive time & labor, I think. It looks pretty sweet all cleaned up!

Honestly, I'm pretty nostalgic when it comes to vintage / classic items and I try to leave them in the most original condition possible. But, I can attest to the reality of the husband's famous motto: "Happy wife, happy life."

If she wants a pink Snap On Tool Box that bad chief, the $50 box is the best candidate you're gonna find I think. Good luck!

You must have used an iPhone to take these pictures. The tilt feature causes pictures to load sideways.

Anyhow, an older box like that, for 50 bucks, loaded with tools is a fantastic deal. Painting it pink would be a crime in my shop but as someone else has wisely pointed out, peace is preferable over justice.

As a side note, 1960s Snap-On bottom boxes are pretty common. You can find a matching bottom for your top box with relative ease. There are about 3 for sale in my local area right now and they appear regularly.

You won't be keeping that toolbox for long bro, either it belongs to the Mrs. and it's hot pink or she's going to make you sell the damn thing because you didn't paint it pink.

Haha love the comment . I'd hate to paint it pink myself but that box does me no good I need a new big box so I can have some unity, I'm tired of having a bunch of small boxes. Around here I've only found 1 bottom box for $300 and no way will I pay that. This box is the only cheap one I've ever found. There is a wholesale place here with a 52" top and bottum for 500 with 6 casters I want and top has a hutch and drawers. I'd like to get Snap on from 80's or 90's but are so expensive. I can't even afford 500 I got 6 kiddos and I'm 28.

Six of them!?! At 28?!? I thought I was borderline insane (ok crazy) with 3 at 29. Hats off to you brother, the struggle is real. Why are there no updates with pictures of a pink snap on tool box ITT??? And an easy bake oven in it too, **** throw some D's on it instead of whack *** casters. Whatever she wants she gets, no way I'd pick up more young'n time than absolutely necessary. How many bottles of Xanax do you chew through monthly btw???

Lol I got 4 girls and 2 boys my youngest is a month old she is driving me nuts moe the most. She is very demanding and whines a lot also has days and nights confused so I get no sleep. All my other kids we're angels as babies, I guess it's time the luck ran out. I'd kill for a break to have alone time but never happens my wife goes to her mothers but I get stuck home baby sitting even when I go I get no help I also do all cooking and cleaning and give all baths. The only thing I get to do or look forward to is go tool hunting but she sets a budget on me.. I hate leaving a good deal behind. What a life I live zanax wouldn't help me.

I would keep it as is and use it if not just toss it in the back of the pickup for a roadside kit. I have an old one that looks just like that (only mine still has a crappy rattle can job) It has been beat to hell and back and still does its job, it was in my family for years and even fell off my uncles truck and rolled down the highway at one point.

Nice score. You can sell the tools and pay for a paint job.

Lot's of time scuffing the paint on the drawers and getting ready for paint.

Best bet is if you know someone who has a paint boot and do it over a weekend so you can do the bottom of the cab and the drawers and then turn them over.

Is personally leave it as-is, but if the OP wants to paint it, I'll bet a place that media blasts and sprays for cars could do a nice job.

It's still as is I've talked the misses into just buying another snap on box that's already pink at Christmas. I'm probably gonna be the only one using it as she isn't tool smart but idk if I'm gonna like pink... I'd take any color over that one but oh well p*ssy pink it is lol.
