Fixture table; considering 1.5" spacing, is there an advantage to 2"?

Maybe I'm brain farting here and can't figure out if the stock we buy likes multiples of 2" more than 1.5"
Reason I'm thinking of building it w/1.5" centers being that material I'm coming across is cheap...obviously more holes=more labor. Am I missing something?

hm... not sure why you would want 1.5" spacing? Seems like 2" would just be easier all around.

There are a lot a commercial fixturing aids that count on that 2 inch spacing. Ones that span more than 2 holes are going to have the pegs on two inch centers or the holes for bolts V or keepers V on 2 inch centers.

the scrap material I got comes in 3" . Looks like I'll just have to leave a 1" gap.

This is what I eventually realized, multi-hole fences, angle blocks and such.
