January of this year, I found myself in a difficult situation... of my own doing of course, but none the less had to find a way to handle it. In 2012, my wife and I purchased more land to add to the farm. and by November of 2012, had grown the small farm to 154 acres in North FL... then in January of 2013, the marriage fell apart, and I suddenly found myself homeless, with a land mortgage that was more than a little bit scary in my new found "homeless" situation.

I was able to find an affordable (and remarkable) private lakehouse for rent on property that bordered the farm, and realized that i needed a storage solution for stuff accumulated over the past 10 years... One of the problems i had found in the past, is that every time i purchased a tract of land, I felt a need to have some sort of a structure on it, and always built the structure in a permanent manner on the property that had just been aquired... Also, with my modest budget, the only way to aquire bigger tracts of land, often meant selling the smaller tracts, once they had been partially developed. this also meant leaving the strucutres behind on the property (either sold, or lost in divorce)...The solution was to construct a portable building, in a way that was rock solid, yet still able to be transported.... The solution that i found is attached in several of the pics...

I call it the FL Cracker House'", and it is 12 x 24, or 288 square feet, with a loft....this does not include the planned "lean too" area to park a car/ tractor/ boat that will be built on ones side of the building... total cost so far, not including my own labor is less than $2000, and is well on its way to completion....

Using the construction methods i found, i am building it right beside the house i am renting, a convenience in many ways), and it can be moved to the (now 77 acrefarm) once complete. the building can s be used for storage of stuff, and is portable if a larger farm becomes available. (this is my theory anyway)... one of the pics below shows house wrap directly on the studs.... this was done in a hurry with the aid of a tarp over to prevent rain from hitting the wood, it was later reinstalled correctly.
