flare nut wrench question?

this is gonna sound strange to the pros here ,but for the benefit of the amateur in me can anyone here explain the advantage of flare nut wrenches over standard combo wrenches on hydro lines

Lines are hollow so naturally they are not as strong and are more prone to rounding and deforming, flare nut wrenches have more contact points so that the load is spread out over more of the fasteners surfaces instead of just several corners or flats.

I have a set of Bonney 10 pt flare wrenches that are fantastic on overtightened/rounded soft metal fittings. They are basically 12 pt box ends with a cut-out, and added metal around the circumference to beef up the end so it doesn't spread. Here they are:

Bonney is no longer made, but sometimes you can find them on ebay. If not, I believe Proto made a comparable set.
