flare nut wrench set

I recently got the newer S (dot) K superchrome set. At first I was disappointed, because the fitment was not as tight as a few older S-K flares. They also didnt fit as well as my Taiwan Sunex crowfoot flares. But when I looked closer, the new SK superchome actually is using their off-corner engagement geometry while my older SK and the Sunex are hexagons.

I was thinking of getting those. How did they work?

For my purposes, all of my flare wrenches have worked just fine.

My disclaimer is that I don't use them hard. I use them on my cars and household appliances. I live in Los Angeles. Therefore although my cars have 10+ years and 180k and 150k miles, they're practically new - without the salt, rust, and corrosion in other parts of the country.

I was more posting more about that the off-corner engagement flare wrenches have more slop in them that the hexagon shaped ones. I would am assuming off corner engagement is a theoretical improvement - and that "fitment/slop" alone may not be the best thing to consider.

I agree with the general consensus here that the Cmans have been **** and I replaced them with Proto just because, At this point it aint usually no space shuttle or Bently, its not past me to head to the straight jaw vise grip, as big as you can get on it.

I lost a 3/8 Proto, bought one from Rickster on here and the only regret was I should have bought 2, ha. Only reason I didnt was the price and service was so right will let him store another one if I ever need it.

For regular use, I need to have:

18mm flare nut crows foot for power steering lines

1/2" flare nut crows foot for transmission lines

5/8" flare nut wrench for carburetor inlet lines

I have a single Hazet, but always wanted to try one of these reinforced versions. No way to spread that.

I've been meaning to add a 16mm to my stash. Pesky bolts ontop of the reinforcement plate...

I took a couple of photos of the Blackhawks. For some reason Blackhawk has a really poor catalog and the photos of the line wrenches make them look cheap and all rounded.
I dont use metric line wrenches much so I did not want to spend a lot on them and i do will not buy Chinese tools.
For inch size I have a set of Proto combo line wrenches. The open end is real thick. They dont look as nice as Snap-on but are really strong I have never had one spread or open up on me.

over the past couple years i've been finding used std & MM truck brand wrenches at flea mkt's, swap meets and pawn shops.

dont think i've paid more than $5 each for any of them.

snap on, mac, matco, and older SK.

I was in a pinch and bought a 3 piece Duralast metric set for $15. Worked fine on 25-year-old brake lines.

Thanks, I'll look at those too. My regular wrenches are Stanley and they've held up well. (Except for the one my 2 yr old buried in the garden for a month, that one has a little rust)

I have the made in usa full-polish craftsmans (SK made, I believe) and I hate them because they have basically no offset. You need to have plenty of space to use them. I am on the search for a set of the SO ones with one open end and one flare end.
