I totally agree..Some tools are made the best by Snap On. And I think the flare wrenches by SO are the best.

They definitely have their place especially when removing power steering hose from a rack or other spot where a full sized wrench won't fit. However, you need to use a quality set and not the one in the Ebay link.

Bite the bullet...buy Snap-on and be done with it. You will never have to buy another one.

Run like hell from those Great Neck...them damn things will spread as fast as Madonnas legs.

Ya, i think i will go with the snap ons..just going to have to save up for a while. And if i need to get laid..find a girl named madonna.

I use flared style crowsfeet so i can use my SO long handle 3/8 ratchet for good leverage. Plus i've found when doing rack and pinions that i can't fit a wrench in those tight spaces, so the crowsfoot with a long extension works great. Never use my Mac wrenches after i bought them. Personally i picked up a set from napa, i think its evercraft (taiwan and free) but fits tightly over fittings. Very happy with them.

I'm no mechanics here ..... why don't they make flare nuts with harder materials. Seems rounding a flare nut is such a common issue.

i dont know as far as the price but they are all priced very reasonably....ill have to call mike and see whatsup

as for the sizes you can always single them out or supplement to the kit if need be

This has been my experience with craftsman pro. Can't recommend them.

I listened to the majority of my elders when they said Snap-on for these. I picked up the Kobalt (JH Williams) on Closeout and consider myself very lucky.

Looking at the Toptul chart reminds me -- the larger sizes are 12 point only. Which to me defeats much of the point of the flare wrench!

Flare nut wrenches are like suits, it's not necessarily the cost, it's how it fits. The better the fit, the less likely it'll round off the fastener. I've got a set of S-K and a set of the hated Craftsman raised panels. S-K's my first choice, but if the C-man fits better, I go with it.

I'm slightly curious about the Toptuls and maybe if I get over motivated i'll pick up a set.

Personally I prefer the Protos and have never ever had a problem with them. I also have ones from various other brands and generally if its not going very easily I know its time to apply and external method to loosen it up.
