While I don't have many actual hand tools, a quality flashlight I DO have...the Surefire A2 Aviator. For me, best blend of power and size, although I do with the LED's are a bit dimmer, and wonder if there is a way to have multiple LED output.

I was thinking about all of this.....for a cheaper price than the rechargeable flashlights I listed. Anyone ever try Dorcy JR's? But in its original form as . Its a pretty nice little light. Its a 1W 45lumen light. Uses a 123 (included).

I ordered today a dorcy kit from darkhorse for 36 usd +2 shipping in my country.the kit include a dorcy jr flashlight, a full body heatsink and an aixiz adjustable module. Here is the link Dorcy Kit i reccomend to buy one but soon before the sale ends.

This thread should be stickied. About 3 months ago I realized I didn't have any good flashlights around. Then I found CPF, and flashlights quickly became an obsession. I then made the further realization that I was lacking some much needed quality tools: hello GJ...and more obsession. My EDC is a 4sevens, and I'm also a fan of Olight, Surefire and Fenix too.

i used the cheapest AA or AAA led lights i can find, either HF, or HD.
that way when i loose one, i'm not out that much,
and have never found a light that will keep working after being dropped in oil or fuel.
most of the time whatever i'm working on takes 2 hands, i either hold the light in my mouth, or work in the "dark".

could someone please link me, direct me or otherwise tell me how best for the lowest price upgrade my MAGLITE 3D's to LED........

What web site, what brand name, how much, where???

THANKS so much........

I got mine offa "flea bay" about 9 bucks for the 3 d cell, and about 15 for the aaa mini mag( but it came w/reflector for the aa also)

Pelican SabreLite 2000 -
Submersible, ,Xenon uses 3 C cells and is bright and long lived. It's also Class1 Div 1 approved, required by the safety gods on the job.
On/off with a twist of the lens cover, kind of a pain in the ***, my next light will be a Pelican model with a separate switch.

I have the same + the little 2 c cell, I love 'em
And if you read the warranty, it says something like everything covered but sharkbite and small children. may be different now, but it said that 5 yrs ago.

I posted pics of these lights in the home made tools thread but here they are again. I used a stinger for 8 years and it served me well but now with LED technology I wanted something smaller and brighter that lasted as long or longer and i finally decided to build it myself. The bigger headed light is a home made P7 light and the smaller one is a XPG R5. Both these lights are brighter, smaller and last longer than my stinger. The smaller headed light I made the tail cap a hexagon so it wouldn't roll. Both light use rechargeable batteries. Both lights have only about 20 bucks worth of materials in them.

The smaller one I carry in my pocket at work and it has been the handiest light I have owned.

My favorite work light is a Streamlight triple AA, slim, small and powerful. I also have Innovas but the batteries are not always readily available. Just bought a pack of Surefires though. Pics later.

I really like those little $2.00 HF led flash lights. Amazing light for the money, especially when they are free. For quality though, my Mag Light is at the top.

Dunno, but I want one!

Although I'm willing to bet they are too bright for normal use around cars, or in small areas. With a fresh set of batteries, my Streamlight verges on it. A area that reflects about blinds my ***.

I checked youtube but not really any in depth reviews

they got this showing both modes on the pro+

I use a Streamlight Stylus. Small and thin enough to keep in my shirt pocket, bright enough to light up small areas.

pelican submersible there intrinsically safe so that its safe for me to use at work on oil tankers. Get the switch one not the twist lens and the LED one they are a little expensive but worth it. Mine has fallen 20 or 30 ft a bunch of times. Its plastic and not conductive so i use it for everything.

I have 3 Streamlight Stingers, 1 Streamlight stylus, 1 Stylus pro, and a Streamlight headlamp. Not to mention 3-4 magnetic LED swivel head lights from different auto parts stores.

streamlight stylus pro. i have 3 of them, have a few more on order. also use the regular stylus keep that in my mobile box. i have a stylus reach i keep in my box at home.

very happy with the newer ones now, the older ones seemed to have issues with batteries and moisture and wouldn't hold up as well. sadly ive lost a couple here and there, at 20 to 25 a peice for them it kinda bites when i lose em.

i keep one in the truck, and one on me at all times. smaller brighter then any other flashlight ive used, very handy.
