Looking for a source for a flat leather belt for my 1918 LeBlond 19 heavy lathe. What you got?

I got a flat belt custom to length on Ebay pretty cheaply and it's worked for me.
(I don't think it is actual leather).

I think shoe repair shops either use them on their machines; or maybe they can make them.
So .... suppliers to that segment?

Are you looking for leather or for a working belt? The only advantage to leather is some can be opened to install on a closed spindle.

These days, I mostly use automotive/industrial multi-rib belts. They're available in most any length and width.

Closed spindle. Want to be able to assemble it on the machine. Not opposed to synthetic but I think actual leather wood be cool for this machine. I had a guy lined up to make one precovid but can’t reach him now.

Actual leather is cool, but stretches over time, so you don't want to leave it under tension.

I've seamed leather on the machine using metal crimp on clips, and the noise and vibration they made going over the pulleys made me despise them. I've done the catgut lacing, and it's quieter, but still not perfect. The best I've found is skiving the ends on a sander, and gluing them in place. Of course, if the belt stretches, this gets impractical.

Have a ton of belt adjustment. More of a novelty having thi machine running than for day to day use.

I make my own. I’ve got two different lacing tools, and it’s a pretty straightforward process.

I ordered one from this guy for my southbend lathe. Not leather but they do make them.
