Good rant, and do agree somewhat. I do think however that Phillips screws are not the right answer. They strip out easier and then become even more of a pain in the *** than flat heads.

I probably shouldn't --- (but should on his youtube page) but here goes anyway...

before you rant, research the term "slotted". Believe it or not, there are "flat head phillips" screws out there. Yep, even "pan head phillips"

Slotted screws <> Flat head screws

I've got the perfect screwdriver for a light switch cover screw:

It's an easily obtainable MAC with a 1/4" x .037" tip. :D

This guy's rant annoys me.

For starters, he's using a $3 all-in-one driver. Second of all, Phillips aren't as great as he makes them sound.

I'm not a big fan of Phillips either. Phillips were actually designed to slip easily to prevent over tightening.

I'm a Torx and hex/Allen guy. But the different styles of Torx are starting to confuse things and piss me off.

I'm sure the screwdriver bit was too thick for the switch cover plate screw and besides that, he was over dramatizing the issue to make a point.

Every style of screw has an application that suits that style better than any other. Slotted screws are good for adjustment type things, such as the gibs in machine equipment.

You guys know what fillister-head screws are?

They come in both straight slot and Phillips. They have extra deep slots and are more commonly found on aircraft and old carburetors. They are an absolute pleasure to turn with a screwdriver. :)

First problem was that he was using a HD special 3.99 screwdriver.

Electric stuff calls for electrical tools = Klein.

Klein 10 in 1 is perfect. The small "slotted" end is perfect for decora plate. The square drive fits perfect on the side of the hot, neutral and grounding lug and will even work on the screw to attach the said 15a -125v outlet to the gem box.

Just my lil ol opinion.

Personally, I've found any type of screw to be a royal PITA depending on it's condition. If this doorknob's so taken with phillips heads, he should get a mid 60's, early 70's Chrysler car. He'd fall in love with the dash board.

That guy's rantings are more about ranting than they are about what he's ranting about. He would have been better off taking those 3 minutes or so to learn how to use the screw driver than complain about it.
