Flat panel led recommendationd

Looking for flat panel led recommendations. I want to mount them on drywall ceiling. What have you guys had good luck with?

http://www.shineretrofits.com/ has a good selection. I've only tested the ones from James Industry and they are a work of art. I know James Industry sells 1x4 also, so if that's what you're looking for I'm sure shineretrofits they can get it for you.

If you don't think those look good, how hard is it for electricians/ framers to frame in the 1x4 troffers?

That's a bare LED strip light retrofit kit.
A. Very Expensive (only 35lm/$)
B. Very Painful to look at unless you have the right diffusing lens.

I did find that James doesn't have 1x4 edge lit panels in stock in the US. Might want to try another manufacturer.

Here is one i found $220 each. Is this the one i need? They have a trim kit for drywall as well.

Can somebody confirm this is the one i need before i pull the trigger?

That is a direct lit, not an edge lit. The edge lit panels that I've seen fill the panel with perfectly even solid white light, which is a very clean look. Direct lit fixtures can vary greatly depending on LED placement behind the diffuser and how well the diffuser functions.

RAB is a good name brand, but the efficiency @ 80L/W is a bit low for that price tag.
Searching their site, it doesn't look like RAB sells edge lit panel fixtures.

Though I can't comment on the brand, this LEDone 1x4 edge lit may fit your needs.

Here's another brand - more expensive - higher wattage & lumen output 1 x 4 edge lit from HD.

Wow, I guess we're still a few years away from reasonably priced LED replacements for T8 shop lights. At an initial cost of anywhere from $100 to $200 more per fixture than their T8 counterparts, it would be many years before the payback in savings would even pay for them, let alone save on power bills going forward.

I have 17 T8 4-bulb fixtures in my shop, and the power consumption of the entire shop, including lights and compressor, refrigerator, water heater, etc., is only about $30/mo peak, and $18/mo average. If I can save 75% of the lighting costs, that is probably no more than $8 to $10 per month.
So, if I subtract the $40 per fixture I paid for T8 fixtures from the $150-ish per unit price for the LED's, I get $110/fixture x 17 = $1870 in additional capital outlay. Now, I start saving $9/mo and accumulate $108 in savings per year. In just 17 years the fixtures will have paid for themselves . . . .

Meanwhile, every time a bulb burns out in my house I do swap it for an LED unit.

The RAB led i linked has a drywall mount kit for an additional $20. I liked the convenience factor for my electrician. I didnt realize it wasn't edge lit.

Can the 1x4's edge lits be easily mounted for drywall? They say they are for drop ceiling.

Yes, they are for drop ceiling, thus you'll still need a drywall mounting kit for the edge lit.

Linear LED replacement bulbs are becoming competitive, but whole fixtures still have a ways to go. Anyone who can wait, should wait. Mass production LED chips at 209 lumens per watt have been moved to 1st quarter 2016. Obviously the general population will have to wait a bit for lamp and fixture products to follow.
