Hello guys, I am looking for some kind of books, software or website that I can use for reference for job times while working on vehicles. Sometimes I feel like I am undercharging for jobs and other times I feel like I am asking too much. Anyone have any suggestions?

A friend of mine was a shop owner and he was using Identifix but as a hobbyist I cant afford to subscribe to that. I did have Alldata and it was somewhat useful but thought I should ask you guys.

Thanks!

MItchell pro demand I think is pretty cheap compare to Identifix. I think $65 compare to $200.

At work we use realtime for customers and mitchell for warranty jobs.

As a hobbyist you are most likely ok with realtime, which is $10 a month, if all you are looking for is a labor guide. If you are looking for the other perks of alldata, identifix or shopkey, for example code lookup or tsb lookups, then realtime is not what you are looking for.

On a side note. Your friend wont let you use his credentials to use identifix? Or is he no longer in the business?

He actually closed his shop and went back to work for a dealership 6 months ago. Hes already regretting that decision.

I will take a look into these 3 and see what works best. As far as coming across a job that I am unsure of the process I usually research online until it puts me way behind schedule and then I dive in and figure it out myself (haha) but having something that is solid with fluid capacities, procedures, etc that would be a bonus.

I think motor still has print editions. I would call a salesman and just tell them you do not need a current ne and he may have an older version around.

They also have a very good book that covers specs, that is all makes all models. It would have your fluids and capacities, jack points, plus a lot of other things. Again ask for an old version.
