I picked up this touch & B tank at the local fleabag today for $ 40.00. It has a new regulator , Valve , hose and a pistol grip torch. It also has a new sticker on the tank from the local gas supplier. Tank is full too. Welding clamp was a buck.

I don't think the torch nozzle / tube should get that hot. Looks like it is burning in the tube due to a low velocity. Are you running the proper pressure?

Agreed, the feed tube should not be running hot like that. I have a Turbo propane torch that does that when you attempt to throttle it down too much.

I found a "B" tank (MT) and old Prestolite torch set up for $20 and thought that was a super deal. Yours of course, is much better with the new reg. and a full tank.
