+1 for the flex units. Love them, it makes adjusting fenders (a-pillar bolts) when the door is almost closed possible.

Flex but my set of Blackhawk ratcheting locking flex head has 2 wrenches that has the locking teeth stripped off and will not lock. I would stay away from the locking flex heads.

I bought the standard some years ago and then just recently I got the flex on a super deal from Sears. I pretty much now use just the flex. If I already owned the flex I would not buy the standards.

Hurry to your advanced auto parts and get the regular gear wrench sae set for $29.99. 7 piece set good till the end of the month. Normally 59.99. Then use some coupons and go to HF and get non locking flex 5 piece sets for 17.99 a set. Get three sets for roughly $75.

Therer is nothing wrong with the 7 pc for 30 deal, thats real reasonable. Those fender wrenches that used to come with sears sets ruined me on ratchet wrenches, the modern ones are so much better. The price is reasonable a guy could afford more than one.

I bought 20 pcs from sears, non flex for 60

I didnt own any and still only use tbhem as problem solvers most of the time, still use the common combo wrench on 98% but the style of work is different on a good portion of it, adjustment stuff on the fly. We have automotive bay and so much of it there is power driven socket, some wrench backup and final tighten some stuff by hand.

I got a drawer or 2 of semi specialty stuff, there is a time and a place for it. I am a huge fan of that Sears 309 pc set. Not all of it is junk, there are somwe really nice pieces in it at the fantastic cost, they almost give it away in the grand scheme of tools.

I like it when the posts are clear, a guy wants to know about the wrenches. Big difference between want and need, personally today would buy very little more than needed and buy on demand.

If I were going to buy a flex head ratcheting wrench, it would definitely be a Gear Wrench. I've had such good life out of my GW combos it's a no-brainer.

My dream wrench drawer would have a full set of Metric and SAE flexheaded gear wrench in every single millimeter from 7mm to 25 and every single 16th from 1/4 to 1".

Ah... to dream. Those things are made out of chromium unaffordium.

I think if I had such a set, I'd give all of my other fixed ratcheting box wrenches away... you know the kind with one size on one end and another size on the other end, and you need both sizes at once and they are on the same wrench.
