I was looking at some flex head ratchet wrenches and I came across the Matco SRFM102PA wrenches. I know Matco doesn't make much of anything themselves so I did some more looking and found the Mountain mtn9410 wrenches which appear to be the same and cheaper. Does anyone have experience with either of these?

I was also looking at the gearwrench flexes, but I don't really need any more open ends and I thought the straight handle on the Matco/Mountains might be an advantage.

I also saw some Facom/Mac wrenches that look nice. Any opinion on those?

I have the Matco version pictured. Got them fairly cheap off of Ebay. I really only use the 13 & 15mm on my oil drain bucket. I believe the wrenches are actually made by Kabo in Taiwan as the wrench have the telltale sealed brass screw on the ratcheting boxed end. To me it's the perfect wrench for drain plugs because, it's not too long or too short and you overtighten anything with it. The spline ratcheting boxed end also works well on damaged drain plugs.
I'm not sure if I would want them as my primary ratcheting wrench set though.:dunno: My favorite ratcheting wrench is the Matco/Armstrong model that has a fixed boxed end on one side with a ratcheting box end on the other side. These are standard length and not like those extra long Gearwench Gearbox. Kabo has also made an updated version for Matco having 90 teeth and spline boxed ends.

Which MAC wrenches are you interested in?
The Blue points pictured are nice but, twice as long as the Matco version.

The Mountain work but I don't like the razor thin handles. It's a long wrench, the reason you want a long wrench is to be able to torque on it. The handles are so thin it hurts your hand to bear down.

I have the Armstrong's that Fedwrench mentioned and I like them, but I ran into a spot where the zero offset and the length caused an access issue. That's when I thought a flex end wrench would be useful as I would have been able to move the handle end around the obstruction.

I don't need any more open ends so I thought the Matco/Mountain straight handle would provide less clutter on the end to bump into things.

I was looking at the Facom 467f and they looked nice. Mac makes something very similar.

After more searching and considering I may be overthinking this as I found a 16 piece (8mm-25mm skip 20 and 23) set of Gearwrench flex wrenches for $120. Gearwrench seems to be well regarded and for the amount I use them as a non-pro that might make the most sense.

Sorry I know this is a super old thread but does anyone have an updated source for these other than matco? It appears the mountain brand are no longer available and I can't find any other brands that offer them. Is mountain still around or has it been bought out?

I have the Mac sets in both SAE and Metric and like them a lot, but I'm a weekend warrior at best so take my endorsement with a grain of salt. The non-flex-head set is 12pc vs. 8pc. for the flexies, mostly on the small end I think.

I appreciate the response. I have a few sets of ratcheting wrenches like those with the open on one end and closed ratcheting on the other. I'm wanting a set that's just the closed ratcheting on one end and a handle as I never really use the open end anyhow.
