Flex sockets

I need some good 3/8 flex sockets, metric & std. I already have 1/2 impact sockets, so I'd like a reasonably priced set for my 3/8 drive hand tools. COO US if possible, but doesn't need to be a truck brand.

I don't always use universal sockets, but when I do, I prefer snap-on.

He did specify hand tools, I take that as not power or air, meaning chrome.

I picked up a set of Wilde flex sae chrome sockets from Epstein's a while back. We're pretty cheap and made in USA.

The key with chrome universal sockets is to get a brand with a good warranty because sooner or later, you're going to break them or at least get them loose in the joints. It doesn't matter whose name is stamped on the socket. I would shop ebay but, Craftsman would probably serve you well depending on how hard you use them. Proto, SK, and the truck brands are excellent choices but, far from reasonably priced (I'm cheap). Good luck in your quest

I have a set of craftsman v series 12 point standard set that i love an have a snap on metric set thats great as well but if money is an issue id go with craftsman or sk

Sorry guys, franzdom got it right. I did mean chrome. I need to add that I'd like 12pt, lifetime warranty preferred since they would wear out over time.

I need the sets for getting into smaller areas (like my GMT900 pickup) that are a little big for the 1/2 drive impacts, and I don't need impact power and wall thickness. I have a set of universal joints, but I'd prefer a rail of 3/8 metric and 3/8 standard. I used a set of Cornwells when working in a friend's shop doing my transmission pan swap, and they were nice to have within reach. I could have used a short socket & universal joint combo, but having a little flexibility right at the bolt was great for a few of them.

Since I wouldn't use them too often, I think a non-truck but still US set would be adequate for my needs. Of course a 12pt SO or Cornwell set would be nicer, but spend extra bucks on a convenience tool here and I don't have it in hand for other tools I'd use more.

I would go with pin less if they makes them in chrome.

I've talked to a couple of aviation mechanics and the say the Craftsman universal sockets don't flex as far as the Snap-on universal sockets. In other words, the Craftsman universal sockets bind up before letting you get more angle. I've got a 1/4 drive Snap-on set and they've always given me plenty of angle.

Williams (Snap-on Industrial Brand) makes a 12-point set that is made in the USA that runs about $85.

Find a set with pins that either are threaded pins and can be adjusted over time, or a welded pin like the Snap-on units. Had a set of Danaher branded for over a year, got tired of the pins pinching fingers when attatching to ratchets and extensions.
