I am doing some upgrading to some very old wiring in a cabin. The walls are all non insulated tongue and groove knotty pine and so I need to snake a few lines without trashing the finishes…too much:bounce:

I would like to get something fairly flexible about 3/4” and 2-3 feet long. Everything I find is very stiff, too long and shatters based upon reviews.

open to suggestions for bits or tricks….thanks…

Definitely go with a 54” bit, I recommend a Klein or Greenlee. Klein has a nice kit at Hd, includes the placement tool. Watch the video on Klein’s website to get an idea how the tool works to help you direct the bit in the wall. While it’s not fun work, these bits make retrofit wiring much less invasive.

Also, consider using an oscillating multi tool to cut the tongue off a piece of paneling and carefully pry it out if you need a larger access area. Also would be good for adding remodeling boxes.

Is there baseboard you could remove and run it behind it?
No…they laid the first board on the flooring…which now has carpet against it.

I have tried to get the boards to come off with several different techniques…including driving the finish nails on thru the boards. They used beautiful 1x8 T/G the full length of every wall so there is no real play with them.

I will likely end up cutting access holes in strategic locations that are hidden by beds, furniture and whatever I can use like pictures. Drill and finesse the wiring in….
