I need to run some 6/3 wire from my switch to my compressor. Because of vibration I don't want conduit. I looked at some armored cable but the smallest I could find was 25'. I only need a few feet. Ideas? thanks

need to back up here

#6 is very large for a compressor motor... 10HP only needs #8...

what is the HP rating of the motor?

what kind of switch are we talking about? the pressure switch? disconnect switch?

Plenty of flexible metallic or non products readily available for this type of installation at even the crappiest hardware store in the middle of nowhere, if it is some kind of mystery, should you really be trying this yourself?

Ignoring the wire size issue, premade AC sealtite whips are like $25 at the box store.

You can also get just the sealtite, fittings and buy wire by the foot at box stores.

You can buy SO cable by the foot at Home Depot.... At least at my local store, anyway.

There is no minimum. You can buy as little as one foot if you would like.

I don't know the code legalities of exposed SO cable. Is the wire in conduit up to the compressor? If so, mount a box on the wall near the compressor. Run rigid/EMT conduit to the box, and seal-tite flex conduit from the box to the pressure switch or motor lead box on the compressor.

SO cable is flexible power cord. Designed to be exposed... People are suggesting this from the box to compressor.

If this is a single-motor-only branch circuit, then motor over-current protection rules apply. The conductor sizing will be based on the motor hp and not the CB size.

You may even be able to use 10-3 SO cord. Need the pic of the motor nameplate to be certain.
