Flexzilla air hoses??

I was at my local body shop supply store and the guy told me before I left that they are having a Black Friday special on "flexzilla" air hoses. 50foot for $35 bux. He said a lot of guys in different shops love them.
Does anyone have one and recommend it?
I have a normal rubber 50foot 3/8 air hose hooked up to mine. Would there be any benefit to get this?

Works amazing in cold weather, no memory or kinks. Only common complaint is it gets dirty easy, and it does. I will run NOTHING else, especially in Winter.

I like them for the jobsite, stay flexible all year long outside. I have a goodyear premium in the garage reel. The flexzilla has too much stretch for my hose reels liking. My hose reel is also stupid heavy duty( I got it cheap). They get dirty in case you care but I really like them overall. If you do get a hole in it the repair fitting you put on it will have to have a hose clamp around it or it just blows out. Or you'd have to crimp a fitting on it

General concensus I have on hoses is don't skimp and get highly plastic ones that won't straighten out, won't work in cold weather, etc. Saying that, brands like Goodyear rubber, Flexzilla, and now the new brand Bluebird are good choices as they remain flexible and useful in wide range of temperatures.

At Menards, the Bluebirds are 1/2 price at $14.99 (3/8" x 50 ft) and Flexzilla are $34.99 (same 3/8" x 50 ft but extras included like blow nozzle, connectors, etc).

Your call on what would meet your needs.

Search prior GJ threads also, as lots have used Flexzilla and been satisfied.

I hate them and yes that makes me the only one who does on GJ... Nearly impossible to clean and they won't lay flat so you're constantly tripping over them. The shop provides Parker Push-Lok hoses and they are very much nicer.

I have used these extensively and recommend them highly. They are much more flexible and hold up quite a bit longer than any hose I have ever used. As an added bonus it seems like you have found a good deal at 35 dollars. The ones I bought were around 50 to 55 bucks.

They are GREAT air hoses. (And garden hoses.)

They are GODAWFUL impossible to clean and look like **** in short order how I use them.

I will probably give the BluBirds a shot as they appear to have a "shiny cover" that would wipe clean.

Flexilla hoses are the BEST air compressor hoses on Earth, at ANY price.

You couldn't pay me to use anything else!

and if you live in the friggin arctic circle, they perform as well as if you lived in Miami!

and they are as light as a feather, no hose weighs less!

the main benefits for you would be in really cold weather, they are as pliable as in summer, and the huge difference in the weight if you have to lug them around. - with heavy rubber hoses, I feel like I am fighting the hose, these are so light it's almost like there is no hose!

Instead of buying the copy, buy the original, Coilhose's Flexeel. Coilhose also recently introduced Yellow Belly, less money and lays flatter.

I have one too and really don't like it. It puffs up when you put air in it and gets dirty fast ( but can clean it up with an auto body paint prep stuff).

I have used them for a couple years and have no complaints. Bought another one on sale today. The water hose and pressure washer hose are nice as well. They stay flexible, they're very light and they are less likely to mar paint if they get pulled across a fender. They are a little stretchy so if your hose reel has much tension, that can be a pain but it's not too bad. They do get dirty quickly but if you don't mind that they're a great hose. Also looking forward to their new pro line of extension cords that are apparently being released this coming winter.

I have a flexzilla hose and really like it. I also have one of tekton hybrid hoses and really like it also. I agree about the flexzilla "puffing up" it's almost like it wants to straighten out too much even though it's super flexible if that makes any sense. I kind of prefer the way the tekton hybrid hose behaves, it's just like a really nice rubber hose. I've watched the ad on the bluebird hose and am very curious about them. It doesn't really ever get below 25 degrees F where I live so I can't comment on extreme cold.

For $15 for a 50' bluebird I personally would buy one of those just to try it out.

I had a shorter one and just got a longer one. I won't be buying any other type of hose from this point forward. I plan to get the HF hose reel and I will immediately replace it with a Flexilla hose.

They do get dirty quickly...but it doesn't affect the function. I keep meaning to try 99% Isopropyl alcohol, to clean it, but it hasn't bothered me enough yet to give it a try.

I have had one for a while now with no problems. Best hose I have used and as far as them getting dirty I just use purple power or simple green to clean it.

I don't clean them because I don't know that the various cleaning solvents you guys are using wouldn't affect the properties of this wonder mystery material they are made of!

Cleaning I`m sure will shorten the life of any hose but but all things being equal the Flexzilla holds up nicely to cleaning without turning stiff as a broomstick. Although it was always still dirty after cleaning, just hit the high spots.

I have mixed feelings on the Flexzilla hoses. They are lightweight, yet they don't lie flat on the shop floor creating dangerous trip hazards. They also stretch a bit too much for my hose reel.

I do however, like using it outside when I have to stretch a hose from my shop door outside to work on something, mainly again because they are lightweight.

For in my shop I like the poly covered rubber hoses that don't stretch or kink and lie flat on the floor. Plus they are easy to drag through a paper towel when winding up on the reel and clean, not so with the Flexzilla.

I guess I fall into both categories. My tools get used heavily but they also get cleaned thoroughly before going back into their home.

Then again I am **** and possibly have a bit of OCD.

I've had some of my Goodyear hoses since 1977, and the rest since 1982, and I can't recall ever cleaning them.

This is comparing it to my much cleaner flexzilla water hose which I actually love even more than the air hose. The difference in performance between the flexzilla water hose and a standard water hose is much larger than the difference in performance between a flexzilla air hose and a standard rubber air hose.

And no I've never bothered with trying to clean it.

If you live in cold weather, do yourself a favor and get the Flexzilla. I see a lot of Goodyear supporters in warm climates, I think they have no clue what a 40F garage does to hoses.....

Edit: I have never owned a Flexilla hose. I mentioned Goodyear as an option.
BTW: Eastern Kentucky in the winter: no problemo. Helluva lot nicer in the Fall!

mine lays down perfectly flat and also does not swell when full of air. I have no clue what they are talking about when they say that. Maybe they got a knockoff version.

The hoses do like to collect dirt though, but that doesn't bother me one bit as the benefits FAR outweigh that one con.

I work on a service truck and as stated above they main thing I love them for is no memory. they roll up no matter what temp it is outside.....but yes they do get very dirty, but that doesnt bother me to bad because my hands are always dirty anyway when working.

I have to second, have no clue what people mean when they say does not lie flat, there is no hose that is more flexible. I do get the stretch that may be an issue with retractable reels, but I have a manual so no issues here.
