If you roll them off a reel you probably wont have too much of a problem with them laying flat. If you loop them on the floor they are a pain. There's always a loop sticking up and I've tripped over them many times. However, it gets below zero here alot and other hoses get so stiff you can barely get them off the reel.

I have a 15' Snap On branded Flexzilla from about 7yrs ago and it's been great. I like how lightweight it is and how easy it is to roll up by hand. They do get dirty, but I'll usually just stretch it out and use whatever rag I used to wipe down my tools with to do a quick once over to remove the bulk of it. Best $15 I've spent and it saves me from having to roll up my 25' Goodyear hose for quick jobs.

if any misses this deal, keep in mind that if you are a savvy shopper, you can get this same deal year-round - I buy a lot from this place - they have free shipping at $50 and up, and their price on Knipex pliers is unmatched by anyone online.

They also sell more Time-Serts than any other place!

Yeah I seen it cheaper than that actually online but I'm a big supporter of local business and I'd rather spend 5-10 bux more on something sometimes if it's in my town

I just picked up 3 Flexzilla 3/8" × 30' retractable hose reels at menards this morning for $29.99 a piece! Never used this brand of hose before but I can already tell I'm going to like it right out of the box!

mine lays down perfectly flat and also does not swell when full of air. I have no clue what they are talking about when they say that.

It's kind of hard to describe, but it doesn't behave the exact same as say a rubber hose when it's warm outside. It's almost as if it's soo flexible, and soo light that it wants to straighten out almost too easy. In say a shop setting where you're using a lift that has zero effect on anything, but when you're in a home garage with a creeper it can be an annoyance, it doesn't just stay put and out of your way as well as my tekton hybrid or a normal rubber hose. It wants to straighten out into nice big loops which can sometimes get in the way of your creeper etc. Pretty minor though in the grand scheme of things.

What I had been doing, before I bought the new 50' Flexilla, is to use the 12.5' Flexilla on the end of a regular hose. This give you the benefit of the super-flexible hose staying out of the way, with a standard hose to get to your work area. Sort of like a super-long whip hose.

I'll plug in a word for our BluBird hoses here. You can buy some at Menards and some other places.
Much more flexible in cold weather than the Flexilla.
Lays flatter.
Easy to clean.
As light as the Flexilla and other hybrids.
Made in good old RUBBER.
10 Year Warranty.
On sale at Menards.

Some had been sent test samples here at GJ and the responses were extremely positive.

Can have an overview here:

I know I plugged it in but I saw we were mentioned here, so.

On sale at Menards. At half-the-price of Flexilla's. (Trust me. I don't know how Menards does this :p)

Missed mentioning. It has a 4:1 Safety Factor and is stronger than almost any general purpose rubber hose you've used (in this price range).
Flexilla (and the hybrids) have a 3:1. Don't know how much it matters to you, but that is a difference worth mentioning.
Their is what used to be called a 200PSI hose until it arrived.

I don't think you can get any more flexible in cold weather than a flexzilla considering their flex characteristics don't change at all!!

If I would do it over again I would still go with the flexzilla.
I see too much comparisons to the flexzilla with that blue one. Looks like somebody is trying to hard to be a green hose but changed their color to blue haha

Ha, I see where you're coming from and I'll admit we did choose blue to stand out. But we're very different (I know I all say that. Doesn't make it less true :p).

We're rubber, like Goodyear's but a different formulation, and Flexilla is a 'hybrid' hose. Plastic and something else (some say TPE). And we've the test comparison data from some labs in the US. As mentioned in the video, the BluBird is as flexible at -30 as the Flexilla is at 0F. If you want the report (a third party did it to compare us when they didn't believe), I can mail it to you ([email protected]).

Yes, we try hard but wouldn't you if you knew you had a great product on hand? Try it, it's not a very expensive risk as of now at Menards :)

So it's been 2 months now so I thought I'd chime in.
I like the hose and it's lighter to tug around the floor. I have no regrets buying it but I don't think it's absolutely amazing and I'm not gonna rave about it. Anyways...it's all and all a good hose and the only negative thing I gotta say about It is I find it hard to loop up to hang. I have a hook on my wall that I usually hanf up the coiled hose on and it just doesn't seem to loop around my arm as nicely as my old craftsman professional rubber one

There's your problem. I wrap everything "over/under" both hoses and cords.
Here's an example of guy over/under an air hose-

I hate them and yes that makes me the only one who does on GJ... Nearly impossible to clean and they won't lay flat so you're constantly tripping over them. The shop provides Parker Push-Lok hoses and they are very much nicer.

Every hose at the shop where I work is Flexzilla. They do get dirty easy, probably mostly due to the color, but are actually VERY easy to clean if you do it like we do.

Get a shop rag and soak it with solvent from the parts cleaner (may want to use nitrile gloves) and go over the entire hose. Then repeat with a dry rag. Quick and makes the hose look brand new.

going to revive this thread. I'm looking for feedback from people that have had them. I'm reading online that some people's ends are coming off as the hose ages, I'm reading that the whip hoses are coming apart as well.

I'm needing to outfit my shop with hoses and was looking at flexzilla, I also found coilhose and I'm going to contact Dave at Tekton about his. They all look appealing.

feedback from daily that have owned theirs a while?

I have a 50' Goodyear rubber hose and a 50' Flexzilla on the end of that. Flexzilla is a great hose, nice and light. I'm not afraid to step on the Goodyear when needed but I will not step on the Flexzilla.

I have had zero issues with the one I have owned for over a year. 3/8" 50'. In fact, I liked it so much, I recently bought a 3/8" 100' on a manual reel.

Yes, the green gets dirty, but its an air hose, not a Ferrari, so I couldn't care less. Its flexible even when its freezing cold in the detached unheated garage, and its lightweight. I am just an active DIY though, not a 40hr/week shop.

I run approximately 500 ft of it in my shop, they guns that use it on their air polishers love it. I run water through it as well, we polish granite, marble, and quartz. It is very flexible and doesn't kink.

Do the BluBird hoses come in 25' or 30' lengths? 50' is ok if you need to get it outside, but in the shop 50' gets a little cumbersome. I have air line taps all around shop every 15'-20'

I just got a flexzilla.. seems like i can be cut easy.. kinda remind me of a "pocket hose" . The cheap plastic futtings i think will fail first if not fast with alot of use.

I was going to clamp on metal fittings but im going to wait til the plastic ones fail just incase if the thin rubber cant be clamped with out leaking..

Also installed a valve air release today.

Hose looks good, feels good, just not sure bout the plastic fittings and threads.66798377a4fdbfa92b4066b2cdb6f8a6.jpg2e3d3d0115cfde16f192ee3de0150bd3.jpg

I believe the hose ends are aluminum.

I have both Flexzilla and BluBird hoses and I like the BluBird much better. Everything Flexzilla claims to be the best at, BluBird seems to do better. Infact Flexzilla seems very stiff to me after handling the BluBird hose. To each his own, but after trying both hoses I prefer BluBird. This thread is a few years old now so who knows if BluBird is even still available? Oh well, I bought plenty of it to hopefully last me the rest of my life. Lol

Hmm mine look black plastic

They look plastic, and the over molding is plastic, but the threads and ends are aluminum. At least, on both of my hoses they are.
