The reel looks identical to some Goodyear branded units I bought a couple years back. They work ok and I prefer the open style verses enclosed so I can guide the hose on correctly. If I let it do its own thing sometimes, it'll load up anyway it see's fit.

I have a 25 foot Flexzilla power washer hose and I like it a lot. The only drawback is that the light colored hose would get oily and dirty fairly quickly in most shop environments. For this reason I usually stick with black air hose.

I bought the HF reel( looks similar in pic) and put the flexzilla hose on it. Been 3 or so years and no issues. So in the end got around $90 in it.

I have not bought the Flexzilla. I own a very similar 50' reel from Harbor Freight. The HF reel has a rubber hose, but the HF rubber hoses don't last as long as a good goodyear hose. When the hose wears out I'll just install a higher quality hose on the reel. The Flexzilla has a "hybrid polymer" hose. These are thinner and lighter than rubber hoses, but are not as flexible, and on cold winter days are downright stiff. The HF units sell for around $90. Next time I'm in Tractor supply I'll check out the Flexzillza.

I've got the enclosed plastic one, and have no complaints. I can only imagine that the open metal one is that much better.

You might want to check out the Flexzillza hose in person. They are WAY more flexible then a rubber hose at all temperatures.

Me too. I've been quite happy with mine actually but I would have preferred the open one. I'm really not sure why right now though since mine has worked so well but we will see in a couple more years I guess.

I also have the plastic enclosed ones, but they have the level wind feature so the hose is laid in properly as it retracts. Simple design and they have held up well, not sure if TSC still sells them though. Keep in mind that TSC also sells the flexzilla garden hose, those are absolutely awesome. They also have about the best price, plus there is a 10% off code floating around good through the 4th of July.

You may look at the Blubird reels. Likely the same reel with super flexible/quality hoses. Got mine at Menards on clearance for $50, but no longer sold there (not sure why). Looks like $110 on Amazon.

I just called the local TSC, they do have one in stock so I'll be picking it up this morning after I take the wife and granddaughter to breakfast. They are holding it for me so nobody buys it from underneath me but if that were to happen, I checked with another store and they have one also.

Of course I'll get some pics of it this afternoon.

Picked it up today and unboxed it.

Looks like a decently made piece, unfortunately, made in China though.

I painted a 2x6 to mount it today this afternoon and hoped I could atleast have it mounted. Unbeknown to me, the mounting plate has holes 5" on center so looks like I need a 2x8.

So far, I have no complaints about it Brad. If I needed another reel elsewhere, I'd buy another, without batting an eye.

And for anybody not sure on he Flexzilla hose, once you use one you'll never use anything else.I know i won't. I work in cold temps all the time and there is simply no comparison to other materials.

I worked in an industrial setting for 40 years as a millwright and I didn't like spring loaded reels.
I have a manual reel in my garage with a drag brake on it so when you stop pulling on it it doesn't keep turning. If I needed another one I would buy the same thing.

The only place I would consider a spring loaded reels would be an overhead installation. Jmo

I now have one of each Flexzilla reel. An open one and a plastic enclosed one. I really prefer the open one. The only ***** I have about flexzilla hose is that it is hard to keep looking clean.

I agree on the cleanliness issue but it really is only aesthetics. The hose holds up well. I have had the enclosed one for about 7 months now and it still works fine even though it is a littler dirty. The directions said to coat with silicone which I did once but never did again.

The only small issue which really isn't an issue once you figure it out is that sometimes the real won't quite return all the way. But it is usually because it is pressurized. Once you close the air off and release what is in the hose it retracts fine. Just FYI. I got it on sale at sears at the time for under $100 bucks. I want to say maybe $89 but I don't quite remember now.
