Floating wood up against existing tile wall

I have a tile wall (bottom half) with 4x4 ceramic tiles which go to the existing linoleum flooring. I would like to pull up the floor and put down a pad and then floating floor.

In my reading about installing a floating floor, there must be a ~5/8" gap around the edges for expansion/contraction. They talk about either removing the base molding to run the new flooring under it, reinstalling the base molding higher. Or install an additional small molding to hide the gap where the floor meets the wall. Of course, having a tile wall where it meets the floor, I can not do either.

Suggestions on what I can do instead?

Based on what you've described...

Personally, I would just pull the tile off the wall. Seems like it would look odd with tile on the wall, but a wood floor.

I'll try to get a picture later tonight, but it is what it sounds.

This is for an ancient kitchen which could use a general overhaul anyway, because I am in there replacing the stove, we were thinking about doing the floor while waiting for the new stove to be delivered as a small step toward updating the kitchen.

To remove the tile, I'd probably have to either put up drywall + all that work (the top half is horse hair plaster for sure) or replace it with waynes coating. Could I get away with waynes coating and a kick board to hide the gap in the floating wood floor?

Find a old timer and just have them top coat the old plaster? If the tiles in good shape you may be able to use a adhesive to glue the trim up.
