Anyone have any experience/comments re: RAB and these floodzilla lites?

http://www.rabweb.com/product_detail.php?product=FZH400QT

I want to light up the woods at the rear of my new garage like a prison break at Nazi POW camp. The height of the light will be about 30 feet high and the width of the garage is 50 feet. Side view shown in attachment

If you have other lites you like - please let me know

Tnx
:shocking:

One of the things I specify when buying outdoors lights is hinged latches for the lenses. Some fixtures use screws to hold the lense on, these seize in the aluminum and break off in a few years.

I can't tell what that particular fixture uses.

If you do get something with screws into the aluminum use anti sieze. It might help down the road.

Rab products are built and packaged offshore and the lack of quality shows.

OK ...my brand new Powermatic (the Gold Standard) planer says "MADE IN CHINA" - and as most items today - made overseas. What in particular about the light demonstrates lack of quality to you?

400w metal halide will throw some light on the back woods. Pretty expensixe to run, takes 5 to 10 minutes for them to go full brightness and might take 15 minutes for them to come back on if shut off by mistake.

. Definite on the screws, they're generally stainless and they still break off

Thanx - I bought three of the pulse types so that they come on much quicker
These won't be everyday use - just occasionally when I need catch an escaped prisoner, etc :)

The RAB site has a cool online applet that computes light coverage etc given height, distance etc..I'm still trying to figure it out

I liked the idea of having "dark Sky" friendly cut - off flood lights to replace the mercury vapor yard light that is a real light polluter. The Floodzilla's have an optional 9 inch hood (could not find it on the site you mentiomed) that directs the flood beam where you want it and blocks it where you don't want it to shine-like at your neighbors. We are in a dark Sky zone and right now I have just switched the pole light off. So thinking something like a floodzilla. Nope-did not use that application yet.

You might have to special order the 9 inch hood - I'm also thinking of the 9 inch hood. The app is real kool - although not that apparent to use - rthey should have included a help file, etc
