Hey all! Thinking of starting a mini work shop build and was googling or a floor plan/building editor that has roof and wall options.

Its a small structure >256sqft, trying to visualize different door / window and roof pitch ideas.

I've tried a bunch but none seem to have all elements in 3d. Not looking to get in to any Autocad fancy stuff just very basic online editor.

Not worried about framing and lumber calculator just 3d that includes doors/windows/roof to get a feel for it. Thanks!!

Well, all of the shed companies, like Tuff Shed, offer free online design tools. Of course, they want your contact information, so they can send you offers on their sheds.

Another option is a pad of grid paper with 1/4" grid squares. That can help you sketch your ideas quickly and play around with doors, windows, rooflines, etc. All you need is a pencil and maybe a ruler to use as a straight edge. I use that stuff to do room layout drawings all the time. Very quick. Once you settle on a design, you can do a real drawing of your plan.

Good design programs are expensive and cheap ones are...well cheap and you get what you pay for. Then there is the learning curve, I have "drawn" in 2 and used 3 more viewer programs and they really aren't very similar at all, so learning 1 means not much on a different one with my experience so far. Staples used to sell some home/landscape design programs I had one but I think it wasn't debugged fully and probably taxed my old system, but maybe a quick search will net some new answers. Garcky's idea is probably best. Harry
I did a search and these aren't cheap anymore, and only one with reviews and then 1 star isn't very promising.

I used a program from HGTV to mod the plans of one of the builder's stock houses into what we wanted. I don't think it is available any more though. Search for 'home design apps' and a bunch of info pops up. Some of the apps are free others have a cost. I found it to be extremely valuable for our use. You do most of your work in 2d laying out walls etc. Then you can look at it, and even 'walk' though your design in 3d. They also usually have furniture, kitchen cabinets etc that you can place. Each furniture piece can be opened up, dimensions and color changed to match what you already have. They even have pictures you can hang on the walls. One thing that was super about the 3d was that we could move walls etc around and assure ourselves that one could still see the living room TV from the kitchen when making a snack run.

Years and years ago I used a cheap program called 3d home architect. It was not expensive back then, I am sure there is something similar available today for not a lot of money that does a pretty good job.
