So SHould I wash w/ water to get all the fine dust/dirt off the floor? People have said DON"T use water?

May get some cleaner to get up the minor black marks from tires?? DO I need to do it?

How long should floor dry before laying epoxy? A week sufficient so long as it isn't 100% humidity for that week.

I washed my floor with a mix of Simple Green and water before doing the acid etching for Rust Oleum Pro at the end of last summer.
Between washing with simple green, the acid etch, and rinsing after the etch, i probably sprayed my floor down 7 or 8 times that day. All rinses were squeugeed out the door. The last was squeegeed and vacuumed.

I closed the garage door on sunday night and didn't open it again for 6 days until I patched small divots and cracks on friday night to apply first coat on saturday morning. No problems to date.

I did just like boiler7904! Cleaned the floor several times with Simple Green and rinsed each time before using the acid etch. Guess you could use any general purpose cleaner, I just had simple green on hand.

Mine has been down for 2 years with NO lifting or peeling...

I was more wondering why clean w/ a cleaner before acid etching/cleaning. Were they old garages w/ dirty floors? I thought acid etch would clean everything from a newer floor, as in garage dust from putting up plaster etc. in building it. I have vaccumed and swept but dirt from walking in there needs to be swept/vaccumed

My house / garage were about 3 or 4 months old without any vehicle traffic in the garage. I used the Simple Green just to get up some drywall compound and other miscellaneous **** from the floor. I don't know if it made a difference or not - I just wanted to make sure that the acid wasn't blocked from getting to the concrete in any portion of the surface. I used stiff bristle nylon flooring scrub brushes for both the Simple Green wash and muriatic acid etch.
