Floor drain questions

Slowly getting the barn finished up.
I have a 40'x56' pole barn. Right now it's just a shell. My intention is to eventually put down 2" foamboard and pex for heat. But the next task is to place a couple of floor drains.

Do most of these have a drain on the bottom?
How far in from the garage door should they be placed? I'm thinking either 6' or 12'.
Do they require a trap or just drain. The will eventually drain into a barrel with gravel.

Do you have building codes in your town?
If yes, you better go ask for proper Installation guidelines, it can cost you a big bucket of money!

Traps? Does it freeze where you live? Barn heated? The water in the traps will freeze.

I live out in the country so have no permits, just do what I want. So I put a drain in before they poured the concrete. It goes through a pipe to a french drain. It is about 2 inches deeper then the output pipe so it acts like a trap.

Here a couple of pics. One is the form I made and the other is after the conrete was poured. I then went to a local guy to laser cut the drain lid from1/4" stainless steel. Strong and looks nice.

No need for a trap if you are not hooking up to a sanitary sewer.
They are just there to keep smell from backing up from the sewer and you should have no smell.
Don't go any smaller than 4 inch and use the large dia "sweeps" for any corners.
