Hey guys, so today i went into the hospital at 4 a.m. in order to get out early, in order to do a 4 hr drive to pick up this jack, and get back in at my usual time so my fiance doesn't know i bought it...lolol.

So i think i got a decent deal..$50, it's a blackhawk floor jack, in pretty decent condition. However, it is leaking a bit, any ideas on how i can fix it?

Any help is appreciated.

You are in for a challenge rebuilding that jack. It is a level up in difficulty from the HW/Lincoln style jacks of similar vintage but as long as you pay attention to detail and the order everything comes out/goes back in, you should be OK to go.

Does the bottle look like this one?

PM Hiball about a kit and if he can't fix you up, he will let you know where to go.

Your jack looks to be an early version of an S-4, 4 ton unit. If it is all complete, you got a sweet deal for $50.00 bucks. Might be time to rebuild the hydraulic unit.

Send Hiball a PM, he might be able to assist you with repairs or parts.

S4 for sure, Where is it Leaking at? Under Load or only when sitting? These jacks use Vee Packing which is a Renewable sealing system and sometimes you can get by with just tightening down the Compression nut, Obviously... Your jack has some Age and without knowing its history or inspecting the Seals and Sealing Surface its impossible to determine what will Work for you. If you have any questions feel free to contact me via PM/Email.

Hey Hiball, it leaks under load, when i arrived at the gentleman's house, he actually had his jeep jacked up with the jack. I will check around for the compression nut, and see if tightening it helps...will get back to you via pm.

There is essentially 2 spots where Leakage could be coming from, The Pump Piston near the Rear and the Main Ram. The Pump Piston consists of a Internal and External Seals and there is a outer Adjusting Nut that has Packing behind it. If you tighten this Nut down (Small Increments) It also tightens the High side Seals alogn with it. To Properly Adjust the Main Ram Seals you will need to take the Outer Compression Nut Off, Remove the packing to Access the Inner Compression Nut. Now... If your Leakage is Just Minimal you "Might" get by with just tightening the Outer compression nut but in all actuality The Outer Packing wasnt designed to hold back "Alot" of oil and Normally the Issue is the Vee packing. If you send me a PM with your email ill send you a Exploded View Diagram/Parts list of your Jack.
