They seem like a good idea but I would be nervous using them. I think it would change the lateral leverage point of the pad and if something got even a little tipsy, the arms would bend and it would come down hard.

I like what I did. Got tired of jacks that top out while all 4 wheels are still on the ground on my Toyota. See that jack in the background?

Long-Frame floor jack from Harbor Freight: $97. (Normally $160, was on sale for $116, used 20% coupon)

Gloss black Krylon: $5

Snap-On logo off of eBay: $3

Total? $105 for a $500-looking jack. :D

Compared to the usual 19-20" lift, it'll raise up more than a foot higher. :D

TNT is on the right track-long frame jacks or end lifts are the way to go.An extension on one of today's chinese specials is really taking a chance. The increased leverage put on the jack by any side load on the extension could fold up the jack like a pretzel.
A good 5 ton long frame ain't cheap, and they take up a lot of room, but I sure feel safer when using one.
My favorite high lift jack was a Lincoln pneumatic end lift, but the way cars are designed now,it's almost impossible to get one under the car without running it up on blocks first, then it's pretty hard to find a good jacking point underneath the car. They do work great on trucks and 4x4s though.

I'd be worried about the lateral leverage it could put on your jack arm...its not really designed for that.

Interesting concept, but I think I'll stick with the 'naysayers' on this one...

My cheap Chinese floor jack from Sam's club came with an extender like that. I have never used it.
