I am sure I am not the first guy to think of this, but I came up with a convenient idea today. I tied a short (3-4 ft) piece of light rope to the end of my floor jack handle. With it, I was able to pump the jack down with my foot from a standing position, followed by pulling the handle back up with the cord, thus allowing me to avoid repetitively bending up and down (I have a bad lower back, but my hips are good). It was about 2 or 3x faster to pump and took less effort all around. I will be doing it that way from now on. It's simple, so I am sure others already knew the trick.
