Oh man... I used one of those one time. It was like watching a monkey try and F*** a football. They will only work if the pad can be removed on your jack, I believe most of the newer overseas jack pads are pinned.

I bought one of those years ago and thought it sucked balls. I ended up not using it and buying a Carolina brand ****** jack locally...one of the best purchases I ever made.

I still have the stupid adapter in my parents' garage...not sure if all the parts are still there after kicking around for fifteen years. Its next home will be the dumpster.

You have to make sure that your floor jack has a removeable saddle and the hole is the correct diameter for the adapter. I have one of these that I bought years ago that works pretty well.

The jack I have has a removeable saddle, there is a bolt on the side and the saddle comes out.

I bought one of them years ago, and they do kind of work. The big problem that I always had with it was the jack has a small footprint and now you have this heavy assembly up in the air trying to move into or out of place. A lot of this also depends on how smooth your floor is. The floor jack isn't as easily movable and as a transmission jack. If you are going to do this more than once, step up and buy a transmission jack, they are just more stable and mobile, I'm sure you will be happier.

I'm still undecided, lot of space to give up for any decent transmission jack, and how effective the adapter is might vary with the type of installation and transmission. Its bound to be better than using a plain jack without an adapter.

Biggest problem with any transmission jack that's not made for a lift is that you need to be able to jack your vehicle up pretty high to get the clearance necessary to remove the ******. Even a 20" lift isn't sufficient in most cases.

My jack has a 26" jack limit, I made my adapter. Of course it only fits a E40D trans. I have used it to remove/install the trans 3 times. Transmission with the t-case is a easy 425 lbs. Yes there was a socket harmed in the making of my adapter. :)

Those transmission adapters are junk! Hiball's description is pretty much spot on! And, I agree with BlindViper 100%! Make your own! I have 2 jacks. My newly restored Hein-Werner serves everyday duty whereas the ChiCom 2 ton I picked up from Costco for $35 in the early 90's is the beater. It happens to have a removeable saddle. It took me all of 15 minutes to fab this out of scrap lumber. Attach it to the jack with a 2-1/2" long 3/4" bolt, washers and nut. This thing works great!

I made adapter with 1/2" aluminum plate, 3/4" OSB, 1 bolt with nut and washers, and 2 straps.

Back when I was in high school and didn't know any better, I used my mini floor jack with a small piece of wood balanced on the even smaller saddle on the Powerglide transmission in my '68 Camaro. Fortunately, everything worked out just fine. It took a few years before I realized what all the fuss was about with transmission jacks.

HF makes two transmission adapter for jacks, both $50 and look like cr@p.

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=95640

Summit has a $40 flat plate with no adjustments.

I thought I remembered something about $80 that was pretty nice, but can't find it.

I've got some transmissions in my future, so I guess I am going get wiser one way or the other.
