What modifications have you guys done to your jack or used to protect the undercarriage of your car?

I use a hockey puck on the metal lift pad to prevent crushed pinch welds and general scraping. Obviously use caution to make sure what you are jacking on will not slip off the puck.

zkling....can't stand folded pinch welds.

I use a hockey puck as well, but I cut a notch in it to fit over the pinch weld jack point. It can't slip. I used a milling machine, but a table saw or Radial arm saw would do it as well---the puck is only hard rubber and cuts very easily.

I even cut special versions that fit BMW plastic jack points. I keep them in my trunk so if a non-dealer shop jacks up my car they won't crush the plastic.

When you guys cut your hockey pucks, how deep do you go? Does the weight end up supported by the pinch weld or the body around the pinch weld?

I use a piece of tire tread on top of the jack pad as a cushion.

Same here except I fastened the tread to a block of wood that I shaped to fit my saddle. It sits in there real good and never moves around or falls off.
