What floor jacks do you guys like that last? I have a Blue michellin from sams I liked that went out and a craftsman man that I hate b/c it takes 30 pumps to lift the car. I guess I could get one from Harbour freight, but I really don't want to be buying a replacement every year. Who makes the jacks for snap on and matco?

I bought two of the gray HF jacks after my Blue Michelin from Sam's started leaking down after about 10 years. The HF jacks are a couple of years old now and still work fine. Not bad for $80 a piece.

I have always had low cars, 15 years ago I bought the gen 1 version of the Griots jack and it has worked flawlessly for years. Their new version today looks even more awesome, the maneuverability of the new jack seems unmatched

Thanks Hiball, I bought one at an auction that will not raise up, I thought that hex might be it so I tried to put some oil in but seems like a tedious job. should it be difficult to get in there. Also does the larger nut on the bottom of the block hold the lifting piston in? I apppreciate any info , I may have to rebuild the jack. I paid $7.00 for it,it looks good otherwise.

I really like my yellow Daytona 3 ton jack from harbor freight. It is much higher quality than the usual suspects from there. Looks completely identical to the snap on 3 ton jack. So much so that snap on sued them for copying it. Lifts very fast. With no weight on it you can lift it to its max height in 3 full pumps I believe.

Both are made in the same factory. One is $179 and the other probably $500.

The pump piston can be serviced from the top side, there are numerous HW OS/WS threads floating around here, unfortunately I don't know what kind of impact Photobucket had on them.

Lol... Don't spread bad information.

It would be nice if there was a floor jack for sale on the market that had all of its individual parts available separately. As it is now, we all have about a 90 day warranty on the entire floor jack unless we get it from a place like Costco.

The New Daytona carries a 3 year warranty, it's possible to secure individual parts for even the cheapest jacks today, unfortunately it's not cost effective in most consumers minds. If your willing to shell out the Bucks, HW, Milwaukee, Norco along with Gray and Weaver, Shinn fu also have a good manufacturing support in regards to there product line.

Yes, I can't seem to view the photobucket pics, but thanks for the info. I may try to rebuild it myself.

Ben.finn,

If you want to see the Photobucket pics, try installing one of the Photobucket fix extensions for Firefox or Chrome browsers.

Here is a link to a GJ thread about it (post# 422): Photobucket.

So I bought this Ranger floor jack several years ago and it has been a killer jack for me:
http://www.asedeals.com/store/ranger-floor-jack-low-rider-super-long-rfj-3000lpf/

When I moved to Washington I gave it to my parents to keep and I took my crappy floor jack with me which is now past it. I'd like to get a new jack and I'd purchase another one of those Rangers but I was hoping to find an aluminum version of that jack since the damn thing is so heavy. I won't get into my "sob story" but I'm still not as strong as I used to be so an aluminum one is appealing right now.

Anyone seen an aluminum jack that gets as low as that Ranger?

I have a 15 year old Hein Werner 2 ton (93642). It was made in USA but not sure now.
I have one, too. They were bought by Shin Fu, a big Chinese jack manufacturer with a number of brands, that built a plant here. At first they said " built in USA from imported and domestic parts". Now, the listing in their catalog says nothing, so I guess it is now made in China. Some of their bigger HW jacks are listed as "Made in USA". I have an older USA one, before Lincoln sold Hein Werner It is bullet proof. I never had a drop of trouble with it. Parts are readilly available if I should ever need them. I am not sure how good the current ones are but they are still expensive.I would definitly look at it again if I was in the market for a jack. That 3 ton Snap On is made in China. I don't need to waste $600 on rebranded truck stuff. The debade still goes on as to whether the $179 HF is virtually the same jack. I prefer to stick to name brands with product support (parts). Anything from HF is a throw away, that is not to say that they are all bad but only their hsnd tools have a lifetime guarranty. I don't buy stuff to only last a few years.

Man, you guys are extremely responsive... It's good to hear others opinions, sometimes things are pointed out that I don't think about, so I appreciate it. I guess I've been living in a shell, I didn't realize how high these dudes can get. It never really crossed my mind to order one due to the weight. I'd pick up another Michelin from Sam's but they don't always carry them. I may just pick up another cheap one from Harbor Freight or next time I'm in Memphis, I can swing by Northern Tool. If I get time, I may pull the Michelin jack apart and see if I can put new seals in it.

I have a 3 1/2 ton from NAPA that I’m happy with. I like the height but it’s heavy.

The Harbor Freight 1.5t alu one is pretty good. It's light and compact. Lifts the whole front end of my Audi easily. Not bad for a cheap jack.

My only complaint is that it has the single roller in the front, as opposed to 2 wheels on either side. One of these days I'll turn up some "stabilizer" wheels

I have a 10+ year old version of this one:

http://www.sears.com/craftsman-3-to...SellerId=Sears&prdNo=3&blockNo=3&blockType=G3

and it still works fine. I paid about $80 for it too.

I also have my dad's green and white C-man that is 40+ years old. It still works great too.

If I had to get a new one, I would go with HF, Torin, or pretty much any jack from the auto parts store, Wal mart etc. Unless you buy a really high dollar jack, I'm not sure there is much difference between them.
