Floor lifting from tires

Any ideas on an easy fix for this? Re-doing the whole floor is out of the question. I'm thinking a couple of strips of something tough like bed liner. Anyone done this before?

Nothing? Okay, never mind. I just spent 12 hours sweeping, mopping, re-mopping, and rinsing about 1500sqft of garage and it looks so nice nobody will ever notice the lifting paint. Only 700sqft to go...

For cleaning, I started out with a really good sweep and a putty knife on a stick for getting up paint spots, chunks of old Land Rover grease, and other unknowns that were stuck to the floor. For mopping I used a 5 to 1 mix of water and Simple Green and mopped the **** out of the floor...probably went over everything 3 times. Then mopped again with plain water and finished by pushing a towel with a broom while it was still wet. It's not a lot of fun, but the end result was worth it.

I feel your pain. My shop in AK was roughly 100K sq/ft. About 80K was floor space painted white...in an industrial maintenance shop... My first tour in the early 2000s we scrubbed, mopped, and rinsed that white floor every Friday, religiously. If vehicles, equipment, benches, etc. could move, they moved so we could clean. Anyone who's served should know what a GI Party is. Every Friday got old but the shop always looked good. Had plenty of paint start coming up over the years.

Your shop and floor looks great. Maybe in the areas you park you could lay some mats or tiles down under the tires. May help protect the floor a bit.

What was it that was lifted by the tires? Can you sand those areas, touch up the paint and then maybe seal those areas or the whole garage? I really like your garage. I wish I had all that room!

Hi Rich,
Sorry for your issues with the floor. I think any epoxy floor is going to have issues over time. As long as you accept and understand that it's not a big deal. Just have some touch up epoxy available if possible to see if that will work. Great looking garage by the way with some terrific space and cars.
