No personal experience, but I have heard that they don't allow the floor to breath, thus trapping moisture inherient in concrete below the mat..this can lead to concreate failure..

That's hooey. Concrete generally benefits from water. Concrete is cured by a hydration reaction, not by drying. Heavy structural concrete (bridge decks, etc.) are often cured by flooding with water and leaving it ponded on top of them.

Concrete can continue to gain strength for years if moisture is available to keep the hydration reaction going.

I have 2 in my garage and they work great. Since I live in Canada I bought the ones that are black and ribbed to help control water from melting snow. Have had them for just over 2 years and they still look like new.

alright, that sounds good too. as you can tell, i know nothing about concrete.

right now we jsut built a new garage, and the floor is just polished concrete.

not sure what to do with it yet. we were thinking of porcelain tile, down the line, but was thinking about these mats, just in the meantime.

I have the coin pattern style mats. They're ok but I won't buy them again. I don't like the way they creep around on the floor and also bunch up when rolling my tool chest and floor jacks around. If you have a working garage then I can't reccommend them. If your garage is just for parking your car then they are ok.

Where did you find them? I'm looking for one for my wife's daily driver as it's the only one in and out of the garage at this time of the year.

Bought them from JNK Products in the US. (http://www.jnkproducts.com/floor_order_form.htm). What I did was have them shipped to a place in Point Roberts called The Letter Carrier (http://www.thelettercarrier.com/). I'm restoring a Camaro and have used The Letter Carrier for about 6 years now. You can even have them call you when they receive your package and it only costs a few dollars for there service.

Cool! Thanks!

I use "Package Expres" in Sumas for the same thing.

I also thought I saw these at Costco in Poco durring the summer, but nothing the last time I was there.

Hey Cobra5L - my local Canadian Tire shops are carrying the ribbed version (7'x17.'5' if I recall) that's where I got mine. Might want to check out your stores.

I have 2 of the ribbed mats under the cars. They work great in that capacity but I wouldn't want them in the work area. When you roll anything heavy like a tool box around on it it bunches up under the wheels. I recommend them for the right application.

I use horse stall mats. They are made from recycled rubber and are 4' x 6' x 3/4". They have a channeled underside that allows moisture/water to drain through. Available from most horsey products stores such as System Fencing in Rockwood or your local TSC stores. About $40-50 ea.

Yes. Ribbed rubber version... easier clean up for salt and slush...two in the front garage. I like them.

Cheers,

Wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole. They stay wet under them at all time. Need to have air floor. Question would be what are you looking for? protection against oil, design, quick install, custom install.
Think about those questions first. I would check out epoxy, polyaspartic, tile or the no win paint.
Good luck

Not to hijack this thread but what i am looking for is something that can keep the snowmelt from going all over the place. My garage isn't pitched so the snow melt goes everywhere.

Bought it last night, $129.99 for the slate gray one. Just have to wait to clean up the mess the wife's car made before rolling it out!

Thats what mine is doing right now. I have an epoxy floor, so the snow melt goes all over the place. Thats why I'm buying a mat to hopefully contain the water to the mat only.
