3/4's of the main floor is solid wood and the rest is tile. We've decided to remove the tile and go 100% wood and I need a nailer for install. Bosch? Wo makes the best gun? Today I have Bosch and Porter Cable nailers but aren't tied to a brand if there's something better out there. FYI... I won't HF it.

Porta/Stanley-Bostitch/Porter-Cable, floor nailers seem to be the ones professionals use. As a DIY’er I’ve used all of them and had no problems. However, I have also used the China made knock-offs and had equally good success. The last two hardwood floor installations I did were with HF nailers. I bought them new then recycled on CL.

this is exactly what i do when i get hardwood jobs. in this case buying the best ain't the way to go when doing 1 floor job every year or 2. renting 1 cost about the same as hf 1. good luck.

i have a HF air flooring nailer, works like a charm and nails through wood like butter.....i also have a senco....works just the same, just a smaller, yet wider frame......i paid 20 shipped for my HF on ebay 5 yrs ago, i paid 500 for the senco....both do their job, but if i was only doing one floor.....id buy the HF and then give it away when your done.

The only nailer HF lists of their site is this one. Is this one the one referred to?

Not as cheap as I expected I guess. Maybe renting is the better way as long as I can get it done in a week I'd actually save a buck or two.

That's the one. Search around for a coupon that will bring the price down a bit... I think I have seen them discounted to about $100.

$99 coupon. I have not used the HF nailer, but I have put down 1500 sq ft of bamboo with a Chinese nailer I bought 4 or 5 years ago.

NuMax. Same as the Freeman I believe, and only $110 from Amazon. I haven't gotten a chance to use mine yet, but my friend already put it through its paces and ended up buying one himself as he's a contractor.

Read the reviews. The Bostich is 3x more money and has some issues. All my other air nailers are Bostich.

This BB is freakin awesome (I get reminded so often). Just ask and members will give recommendations to help you on your way AND even maybe a coupon...

Thanks guys, I appreciate the recommendations. I now have a solid list of options to consider. So much better than where I started.
