Hey everyone. Is it acceptable to sand a floor with a DA and skip the etching? This would be prepping for a garage floor paint or coating of some kind.

I believe the sanding/grinding of the floor would take the place of the etching. You should be good, but double check with the manufacturer. I spoke to a company today as I am planning mine and they told me grinding was the best prep if feasible.

We have seen clients sand for prep but normal sanding pads don’t work well on concrete as they are designed for wood. The up,ortsnt part is to put on a micro profile.

Vacuum well and prime!
