Floor plan software?

Sketchup changed their business model and completely hamstrung the free tooling. Trying to create a floorplan with it is proving miserable.

Short of grabbing some graph paper, what software (free?) are people using to lay out floor plans?

Anyone aware of any SIMPLE, free 2D floorplan software? I don't care about 3D, object heights, walk-throughs etc. I just wanna lay out a garage reorganization with CUSTOMIZABLE shapes (squares and rectangles) I can move around inside the walls. Nothing fancy. So far, I'm doing it with freaking graph paper cutouts because I can't find a simple program that doesn't force me to use predetermined objects, or to spend an enormous amount of time creating my own objects (or resizing theirs over and over again). Thanks for any help!

I use SweetHome3D.
It's free and powerful.
You create in 2D and it can render in 3D. Comes with many standard objects and imports additional downloaded objects. You can find any objects you need (tool boxes, tools, cars etc.)
