Hi guys I found this forum when I started looking for epoxy to paint the floor. I wish that I had known about the forum earlier, but oh well.

I have decided to put a wolverine coating down and I am going to acid etch the floor with muriatic acid. What have people used to neutralize the acid afterwards? I have read that after you rinse the floor you can wash it with bleach while other people say washing w/ simplegreen will also neutralize the surface. What Ph should the surface be?

Someone also said the use some type of acid/mineral neutralizer should be used. Has anyone done this and know what products are out there?

Thanks for any advice.

FYI, if you use 6-1 or 8-1 water to acid, then use the same ratio of ammonia to water to neutralize.

FWIW the my two times that I have acid washed my floors, all that I have done is rinse it alot. This last time I hardly even pressure washed, and I didn't kill any grass or stain concrete that I didn't want stained.

I have also never heard of using ammonia, just baking soda if you want to neutralize. I would think that the hazard of using ammonia would be just as great as the muratic acid itself.

So to summerize, use baking soda if you must, otherwise just rinse alot. Good luck.
