Floor prep and epoxy - did I wait too long?

I hired a contractor to do the epoxy coating for me. He preped the floor last week with acid etching. He was about to go with the home depot epoxy, then I decided to use the epoxy-coat after hearing all those good words about the 100% solids. I had to order it online. The shipment will arrive tomorrow. So it's been more than 1 week since the prep work was done. Is it OK to assume that the floor is still in good shape? The garage door was shut all the time.

Also, I plan to use a primer with the epoxy-coat system. I remember seeing some product being recommended but cannot find those posts at this moment. What do people usually use as a primer? I'd like to get something tomorrow from a local store---don't want to wait for another week!

if you have not used the garage since etching, you are good to go...if you have spilled stuff, dirtied up things, then you may need to wash it well.

The primer should be sourced with the product you order online, even if you have to wait. The local guys may not know what you ordered well enough to know if it will work or not.

Best to have all your materials from the same family of products. This is not the project to test things out on. It can be a bear to remove, if it does not kick correctly, or otherwise fails.

If the floor is still clean you should be fine. Maybe take a leaf blower and blow out any dust or debris.
A far as the primer is concerned, you really do not need one. If you really feel you have to apply a primer, call me with the options you find locally and I will see if they are compatible.

Your first mistake is hiring a guy who is willing to apply a Home Depot epoxy on your floor. I'm guessing he is a general contractor and not an epoxy contractor. Hire a pro, diamond grind your floor and get a warranty form a reputable epoxy contractor. If not, your chances of success will be very low. Just my 2 cents....Good luck!
