Floor prep for full flake question.

Quick question, hopefully someone with more experience than me can answer easily.

I want to do a full flake floor on a small slab about 250sq ft. The slab is about 3 years old in good shape with no sealers or anything else applied to it.

Whats the recommended floor prep method for something of this size.? Renting a big grinder seems overkill. I was just wondering if the 7in diamabrush or a diamond cup on my angle grinder would be fine.

You definitely want to grind. Whether you rent a large grinder or do it with a 7", that is up to you. If you do use a 7" be absolutely sure you have a powerful vacuum (~200+ CFM) and a vacuum shroud to **** up the dust. You will have excess concrete dust because it spins so fast. Make sure you wear a N95 or P100 respirator. Dust mask will not suffice. Wear eye and hearing protection. Mask off any doors leading to the interior. Don't let anyone breath in the concrete dust, especially little kids. After you grind, vacuum the floor excessively and perform a solvent wipe shortly before applying your coatings. You can route out any cracks with a 1/8" thick masonry diamond blade for your 4.5" grinder. Fill with epoxy joint filler.
