Floor products - what's best?

I've just bought my "dream house" which has a 3 car garage, and I really want to make this garage perfect. Before I fill it with toys, I want to make sure the floor is taken care of.

It's stained with oil, has cracks, bumps, gouges, etc, so I know I need to repair all of that. I plan on filling the cracks with epoxy, grinding down the bumps, cleaning, pressure washing, etc.

What I'd like to know before I get started is what your opinions are for the best products to use to patch, and then cover the floor. I don't want to just get something off the shelf at Home Depot, spend many hours on it, and have it peel up on me after a month.

Any suggestions would be appreciated for this newbie...

There are a lot of products on the market and many of them are very good. My first piece of advice would be to stick with something American Made. We had looked at some foreign made products recently and I could not believe what I was seeing. That's not to say there are not some good ones out there.

The big decision:

• Garage Floor Coating
• Garage Floor Tiles
• Garage Floor Mats

To answer that question we need a better idea of (a) what your dream garage looks like and (b) how you use it.

Get a lot of samples. Send me an email with your info and I will send you 6 tiles and some mat samples so you can get a true feel for the variety that is out there.

I am also in Florida ... Cape Coral / Ft Myers area. My garage is also a 3-car (30' W x 19.5' D) ... 585 Sq. Ft.

Great floors slippery as a gut when wet though. My dad's kitchen was Terrazzo and when the kids would come running in from the pool....
Lots of busted heads and tails.

How about acid stain and seal? I have read that besides an aditional coat of sealer every couple of years its maintenance free, it looks great and the cost of materils is low.

The halls around the gymnasium where I went to high school are Terrazzo. It was built in 1958, has had heavy foot traffic, including salt from sidewalks tracked in during winter. It is incredible how little or no wear shows.

Depends on how it is finished. It can be slippery or not. The more smooth and shiney, the more slipery.
