floor repair/patch help

I need patch and repair my floor before I paint it. What should I use? The floor is pitted real bad and had a few large chips. I need to patch all that before I paint it. It appears to be road salt the caused the damage from the old owners of the house.

Are you going with epoxy in the end?

Works really well. I used it all over the place on my floor, even 1/2 holes. Use it in several layers for the big holes/cracks and you will never be able to tell they were there. The only downside is I could not find it anywhere locally. So I had to order it from the place in the thread. Worked out fine, though.

Yes I plan on going with epoxy for the finish. I going to give that a try.

I used a product by DAP that I got at Lowe's in a gallon bucket for a little over $12 that is called Concrete Patch and Repair or something like that. Worked pretty well, setup fairly quick and is sandable. The only issue with it is you can't put it down more than about 1/4 inch thick or it sinkholes and takes forever to dry.

I've seen professional floor refinishers use regular auto body filler under epoxy. It's not the cheapest thing, but seemed to hold up.

A previous company i used to work for had this done in areas of a machine shop floor, so it holds up under heavy traffic and heavy loads.

I have lots of that at home. I also have some epoxy left over from rebuilding the boat transom.
