Hi all,

We bought a used floor scrubber to try and keep the shop floor clean.

Make: Dayton aka Viper
Model: 14x831

However we need some help with a few items on it. The scrubber motor works great, the vac works, however we have these 3 issues:

Firstly, here is a video of the unit... you can see the first couple of issues in it:
Here is the Video of the SCRUBBER

1. As you can see, the drive unit has a mind of it's own. I'm guessing someone opened the control board area and a wire is loose... and not connected correctly, seeing as though it should only move when the trigger is pressed?
I've not opened it yet to take a look... but does anyone know what the issue could be?

2. As you can see in the video when it's moving, it will tilt after a wheel rotation. I checked both wheels, they both look perfectly fine. I lifted the unit and turned the trans axel... I can not see any wave in the wheels as their spinning so I'm not sure what the problem is.
Any ideas?

3. The cap for the water filter is broke... where is a good place to pickup parts?

Thanks all for the help!

Dayton is a Grainger "store brand" They should have any parts or information you may need.

As for the ghost in the machine, it will take some trouble shooting. Perhaps someone removed safety switches, maybe a bad control board. It shouldn't move without the safety lever pulled, either one at each handle.

Thanks for the info about Grainger, that should help out a ton.

Because the drive motor is going while the trigger is Not being pressed... then stops when it IS, I'm thinking someone wired it to the wrong terminals on the control board? And because it stops/runs when I tap the top of the machine there has to be a loose wire or a bad relay? I've not taken it apart yet to see what this thing looks like inside.

hard to tell what the issue is, could be a control board issue /loose solder joint /etc.
the fact that tapping it makes it do stuff, I'm leaning to a bad joint to start with.
I'd be opening it up & looking around for sure. if nothing obvious take a plastic straw or something and rub all over wires, connections , components etc & see what happens

Thanks all for the help!
i would guess the potentiometer for the speed control is bad. If you send me the serial number tag with a model number I can get you a
Parts manual. From there you wil have all diagrams and parts numbers. You can order locally at a Viper Nilfisk dealer. Jan San house.

I’ll need an email to send it to You can PM me the email if you don’t want to post it.
