Floor sweeping compond

Is there a thread were you fellas has discussed floor sweep compond ? I once used a red sawdust type of sweep that worked great and maybe had an oil or wax in it that left the floor looking clean and maybe a hint of shine when done . In oklahoma dust and dirt are just something that has to be lived with but a very dirty fool kinda bugs me .

I looked at ebay but there are no pictures of what the product is . I really liked the sawdust ,oil ? based stuff i had used at work long ago but dont have a clue as to whaT IT was called or where to get a drum of it .

Hopeing you guys could steer me to what I want and maybe it has been talked about before here . Me and the search dont get along too good , its not that I am lazy , I guess I dont word it rite or something .

I just checked mine.All it's called is " sandless based sweeping compound". Comes from a place called Sierra chemical outta Sacramento.

The search function can be tricky - it seems to work better if you go to the 'advanced search' feature instead of just the first search window that pops up. Alternately, just check with local hardware stores or big box stores to see if they have it. I just looked at the Home Depot website and they sell Zep sweeping compound in 50 lb. bags.

I bought mine locally in bulk at a janitorial supply store.

Mine was a greenish color.

Thanks alot guys . I will call around . My concrete is unsealed so it cant be helping anything eather,thats why I was thinking the oily stuff might work good on it .

Those painted chip floors are just so darn nice .

I have used the sweeping compound and it is great. Once a year or so I like to sprinkle a little Tide on the floor and wet it. Sweep it to the drain and rinse. Really cleans that dust up. Just start with a little as it doesn't take very much.

Do yourself a BIG favor and save $money$. Don't seal.

I sealed the floor in Shop #1, 2,200 sq.ft.. Big mistake. I won't do it again. The sealer, recommended by the concrete folks for garages, turned out to be gasoline soluble . Big mess every time there's a spill, and around here it happens a bunch. Put down speedi-dry to soak up the gas and it mixes with the sealer making a frickin' GD mess.

I'll be doing Shop #2, 3,600 sq.ft., in a month or so. Even the concrete finisher I'm using this trip around said don't seal it.

You too huh? Mine turns into a tacky mess when gas gets on it.
