I had the company vechicle serviced at a Jiffy Lube in Falmouth VA on RT 17. They have what appears to be a 2.5'x2.5' black rubber tile in the service bays.

Any idea what this is and how well it would hold up in a residential garage? The jiffy lube I was at had a service pit.

The service manager had no clue regarding the floor details.

I assume it was rubber, it had a slight give to it. It was relatively thin, perhaps 1/8 inch at the exposed end at the rollup door.

Did it have a texture to it by any chance? Like dimples or diamond plate pattern. If so, I know exactly what you are talking about as I almost did my garage with that flooring. It ain't cheap but looks great. I had to give up on the idea due to budget but one day I just might get it. Let me see if I can find a link for you

Rubber flooring is really not the best option for residential applications. The reason you see it there is rubber absorbs the oil and helps with slip resistance, after a while you must replace the mats ( tiles) as they become pretty nasty. The other issues are the do have a strong odor and also do not help with mold and moisture issues.

I agree with Jorgen. Rubber (tiles) on rubber (tires) also creates too much friction and tends to displace the tiles.
