I'm new to the garage journal. Been a part of the Model A forum for years. Just now moved to a new home and have a 900 sq. ft. basement workshop with garage door entry. I am thinking about the locking tiles. I see recommendations for Racetrac. I like the coin type and Racetrac is $2.99 per ft. I also found a "modutile" with a very similar looking coin type for $1.98 per ft. Anyone know of this brand and can recommend the one I should use. I will have two Model A's stored in here and my full work shop with wood working equipment and also want to look for some type of lift (hydraulic scissor type)?

Hello Rich and welcome to the forum! If you do a search you will find more information than you can read with a cup of coffee when comparing interlocking garage floor tiles.

What I can say is that the more premium tiles such as RaceDeck, Swisstrax, TrueLock Plus and etc, are going to be the tiles with the longest warranties and best resistance to spills, and stains when it comes to clean up as well as tire marks. They are also good choices if using floor lifts or heavy equipment.

The lesser expensive tiles work well also and serve their purpose for the budget minded. If you are less worried about stain resistance I believe these to be a good value.

Most tile companies will offer you a free sample or two so that you can compare your choices and decided for yourself. So be sure to take them up on that as well. Plus, there will be many people who will help you out here with their own experiences.

Good luck and have fun with it!

This is a great post. There is a world of difference between tiles and a lot of it comes down to how the floor is used. What kind of work shop is it. RaceDeck, Swisstrax and TrueLock Plus are great products as are some of the other TrueLock products. MotorMat by Sport Court is also a good brand, I do not do RaceDeck but I could send you a large sample back with the various brands and styles and help you make an educated decision. Just send me a PM with your contact info, address, etc. Also if there is a color or pattern that you are thinking about
